Golden Valley Study Group

Welcome to the web site of the Golden Valley Study Group

The Group is based in the Golden Valley, south west of Hereford near the Welsh border. Its remit is to promote and encourage the public study and preservation of local history. The Group provides a community forum for discussions on local history, with a programme of talks and exploratory walks in and around the area.
The valley follows the course of the River Dore, arising in the hills above Dorstone and passing through Peterchurch, Turnastone, Vowchurch, Bacton and Abbey Dore, joining the Monnow near Pontrilas. The many historic buildings and beautiful rural scenery provide a fascinating and rewarding backdrop to the activities of the Study Group.
